Fortune Cookie

The difficulties of life are intended to make us better, not bitter.

This fortune could not have come at a better time....

Scoot Scoot the Razor Scooter

I commute into San Francisco for work every day and I usually prefer to walk to BART from my house. I have been walking and maybe I am just lagging, but it has been taking me extra long to get to the station which causes me to be a little late. And as you all know I am working, VERY HARD, on being on time to my commitments!

A couple of summers ago when I was commuting, I decided to ride my bike {mind you, I got this bike for my 5th birthday, so it is a little outdated} which turned into more of a hassle than a convenience because I had to lock the bike at BART and since on the way home, it is all uphill, I would catch a ride home and have to haul the bike in the back of the car....

This summer/the rest of the time that I will be working in San Francisco, I have decided to upgrade to a razor scooter! I am borrowing my Sweeter's childhood razor scooter and I used it for the first time TODAY! It cut my commute time in half, almost 1/3! AMAZING!

I am sure that I was one sight to see, riding down the main street wearing a dress with a briefcase slung over my shoulder...SCOOTERING! I was telling my sweeter about it this morning when I got to work, and he was laughing at me and wishing that he was here to witness this hilarious endeavor that I have decided to take on!

What is the funniest form of transportation that you have seen used on your morning commute?

The Girl Who Played With Fire

I have completed this GREAT book and now I am in the midst of reading The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest. I am absolutely loving this series and I am looking for anyone who has read them to go and see the movie in subtitles! I have heard that it is wonderful and I really want to see it before it is taken out of the theaters and before the American version comes out...who wants to join me!?

After reading the first one and not really knowing what to expect once starting the second book, I really enjoyed it! And so far, after having started the third book, I feel that the second and the third book and more connected, plot/story-wise, than the first one is. I feel that the first book set the stage for all of the main characters with a very intriguing twist.

I am excited to get through the 3rd book and see how Stieg Larsson finishes off the series!!

Good Karma

This afternoon I was walking from our main office building into mine when I was crossing the street I made eye contact with an elderly man. We greeted each other with a smile and crossed paths as I walked to open the door to my building.

As I went to open the door, I dropped every paper that was in my hand onto the floor causing everything to get out of place (I was going back to my desk to put a binder together with some useful information for my new position.)

As I did this, another man walked passed me and in a sarcastic tone said "UH-OH," laughed and walked away.

I bent down to pick up all of my papers and out of the corner of my eye, I see the older man walking back toward me and he bent down and helped me pick up all of my papers!

That kind of thing rarely happens, especially in San Francisco. I would like to say that what goes-around-comes-around and I really believe that you should treat others the way you want to be treated!

I would like to thank that man who helped me pick up my stack of papers without even thinking twice about it, and I would like to thank every one else in the world who would do a kind task for a stranger. It tells LOADS about your character!

THANK YOU!

Hot Stone Massage

I had a Hot Stone Massage this afternoon at the Lafayette Park Hotel and it was absolutely wonderful!

If you are looking for a massage that is kind of shallow tissue but very relaxing with a lot of heat, this is definitely the massage for you. The masseuse used both her hands as well as the stones to really massage my entire body! I loved that the hands were also incorporated along with the stones, it was a perfect combination. I was almost asleep by the end because I was so relaxed!

The rocks are about palm sized and smooth and, I thought that I would be annoyed, but the sound of the rocks hitting each other when the masseuse was rubbing my back was so peaceful and calming! It is definitely a treatment that you should try if you haven't already!

The Lafayette Park Hotel is a charming hotel in the East Bay that I believe that everyone should stay at at least once. It has beautiful grounds, the rooms are spacious, yet cozy at the same time and the spa is filled with amazing aromas that will leave you wanting to buy every scented oil that they used on you!

What was great about today is that I went into the spa leaving cold and ugly weather outside and when I came out, the sun was out and it was blue skies all around! My mom and brothers and I sat around the pool and basked in the sun and relaxed! It was quite a lovely afternoon!
