Deep...

Do you ever think about how your actions dictate your future? For example, your family moved to a different neighborhood and you met your best friend in the entire world. Or, you were on the fence about colleges and when you finally decided on the right one, your dorm room neighbor turned out to be the love of your life? Or, you always drive on a certain street to get to the store, and this time you picked a new route and avoided an accident?

Deep, I know.

I have been thinking about this very topic over the last few days. See...on Friday morning I was startled awake by terrible, debilitating neck pain. It was so bad I could hardly get out of bed. I actually didn't go into work and I cancelled my trip to Arizona to meet one of my best friend's baby.

While I lay, immobile, in my bed high on probably too much ibuprofen, I was informed that my mode of transportation to and from work suffered from computer glitches and didn't start running until the late morning. Phew! Cut to me feeling great, standing on the platform with my suitcase fuming that I was so late....Oh how that would have made me annoyed....

On Saturday morning, I woke up with my neck in a soft collar to be told by my husband who had already gotten out of bed and read some of the news that there was a car crash and a gun scare that evacuated a few terminals at LAX, where my layover was scheduled to be had I gotten on that plane. Can you even imagine the emotions and the turmoil that flooded LAX on Friday night, especially after what happened there on November 1st. Cut to me feeling great being evacuated from my flights terminal and the fear that would engulf my husband...oh my gosh, and my mom!

I spent the rest of the weekend counting my blessings and being grateful that my neck was in so much pain and I was unable to move around - is that weird?!

Anyway...just a thought!

I hope you all are enjoying your, for some, last day of work before a long weekend, and for other, the first day of a super long weekend! May all of your bellies be full, your hearts happy and your body grateful for all of your life blessing!

I am thankful we live so close to my family and that my neck is on the mend!

5 on Friday - Thanksgiving Style

1. I'mIamam so this article earlier this week.

Can you beliecan'tve that this couple has been married for 81 years!? Wow! It gives hope to all of us young married couples! 

Cheers to 100 years with my love!

2. Thanksgiving was seriously amazing! It was spent cooking, drinking, laughing and chatting with lots of family and friends! I am more than grateful for the wonderful people in my life! I made this cheesecake recipe - more to come on all of this later! 

3. Now that Thanksgiving is over, it is time for Christmas! Bring on the SF Tree Lighting Ceremonies, egg nog, cozy nights in and my company holiday party! Yippee!

4. I am thankful everyday for my family and friends. I am more than thankful to have such an amazing man in my life to share it with! 

5. I'm really excited for this weekend! While Rich is Busy studying, I will be spending it with my family friends!

Isn't that little month sticker precious?! I bought them on Etsy from the Belly to Baby Designs! Brittani was awesome to work with, very quick to answer my questions and quick to ship once I made my order!

3. We finally bought outdoor furniture for our balcony and I strung lights through the railing. It looks just like a little bistro! We love it!

4. I am loving that I live so close to some awesome Alpha Gam Sisters! We celebrated the newest class of sisters into the chapter where I was initiated. 

5. I love my job! Like, seriously! It is so much fun, everyone is so wonderful and I am just so happy to get up every morning! Let's just say that I work for a company that is on this list... yeah, it's pretty awesome! 

And earlier this week they brought Cronuts in! It was life changing!

Happy 238th Birthday

This past Sunday, November 10th, was the USMC's 238th birthday. Of course, we had to celebrate - even though I was feeling under the weather. We woke up and got coffee and then drove out to the Cliff House in San Francisco. We walked around the Sutro Baths, enjoyed the sunshine and celebrated birthday time with some delicious clam chowder and crab sandwiches! 

I do have to say that I posted a picture of Rich and I celebrating to Facebook and he got a lot of real "happy birthday" posts. I am sorry for tricking you, if you were tricked... :-)

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend and celebrated all veterans!

Law School Gala

I was supposed to spend this past weekend with my mom. However, I caught a cold and was unable to get out of bed in time to catch a ride! So I stayed home, watched shows and slept all weekend. It was glorious...

On Friday evenings at work, we have our team meeting followed by a team happy hour. This past Friday, as I continued to feel worse and worse, our happy hour consisted of whiskey, bourbon and scotch tastings. I figured that sipping on those drinks would clear out my sinuses, and boy was I right!?

After our happy hour, I rushed home to get dressed for the Gala that Rich's school was putting on as a fundraiser for scholarships.I put on my dancing shoes, took a couple of deep breaths and we headed to the venue. I got to meet a lot of Rich's classmates.

We bid on some auction items, and won a month free yoga membership and Rich and a few of his friends won an evening out with a professor. Exciting stuff!

We had a great time getting all dolled up! I always love to see my sweet hubster in a suit ::swoon::

 

One of THOSE days

Do you ever have one of those mornings where you feel like you can't recover from? That was me yesterday :-/ I woke up early, left my house early, got to the BART station early, and was greet with no parking spots. So I had to drive home and park and then wait for the bus. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the bus...but when it is cheaper for me to drive and park versus riding the bus, you know where to find me.

So I waited for the bus. Hopped on BART and when I got to my final destination, I couldn't find my clipper card. That's right...in the 25 minutes I was actually on BART, I lost my clipper card. So I had to explain myself to the agent, buy a new ticket, run into the nearest walgreens to get another card, run to work to report my card lost and cancel the card so no funds were lost, all while crying to my poor husband on the phone about it!

Hmph...how frustrating!

But I got to work, made myself a decaf coffee, trying a new torani syrup, and yes decaf because otherwise I would be bouncing all over the place, checked my email and was pleasantly surprised by how much my mood improved by being at work, taking a couple of deep breaths and remembering that "it could have been worse." #firstworldproblems for reals!

I read this article last week about habits of extremely happy people and remembered that being happy is a choice. It is always important to remember that especially on those days!

I am sure that you have seen this around facebook and twitter. I took the time to watch the video and I am sure glad that I did. Ash makes some really valid points about how to approach tough topics. We all have hard things that we need to talk about with our friends and family and need to find the strength and courage to do so.

5 on Friday

1. I am grateful to live in such a beautiful city. Since the seasons are changing, the air feels more crisp and the sky is such a beautiful blue!

2. My Alpha Gam Little Sister-Daughter was in town this weekend from New York and had dinner with me! It was such a fun night where we were able to catch up and eat delicious food!

3. I am starting to get settled in my new job and I am loving it. It is nice that I am starting to get the hang of things. And I am getting more responsibilities and project to work on - yay! I am loving my coworkers, my commute isn't my favorite, but I love walking through the Financial District to get to work, it is about a mile walk!

4. I am more than excited to have Monday off to observe Veterans Day! I think I may be coming down with a little cold and having an extra day to sleep in is more than necessary! I am spending this weekend with my mom! I am excited!


5. Last, but not least, Rich and I are getting all gussied up this weekend and attending a Law School Gala! Yippee! I love getting dressed up and going out!

High School Homecoming

 

 

 

Isn’t my little brother handsome?? Sheesh!

 

Anyway, it is so wonderful to be so close to home and be part of all of these special events! Saturday night was my oldest little brother's homecoming. I helped him decide which shirt to wear and I tied his tie. I, also, took a zillion pictures before the dance! It was so fun to be on the ‘taking picture’ side of the dance! Let’s just say, I am a proud sister! I am proud to watch him grow up! And I am so happy to be close by so I can see it all first hand!
