La Cucaracha

So Rich and I had quite the eventful Saturday night...
We got home from our Saturday night picnic and we decided to make some tea and watch a movie on Netflix.

I lit a bunch of candles and we started the movie.

We are about 20 minutes in to The Pianist (great movie, by the way) and out of the corner of my eye, I see something move on the carpet...

I looked down to the carpet and saw nothing, so I continued to watch the movie, and then I see something move again...
So I tell Rich that there is a bug on the carpet, and it looks huge...

So we turned the lights on and there was a COCKROACH in my living room! About the size of a quarter, so he was pretty decent size...
I about peed my pants....

After we assessed the situation, Rich grabbed a container to try to scoop him up. Rich, of course, missed which sent the cockroach zooming under our TV stand.
(Those things are FAST)

This sent me to jump on to the couch and scream...

Rich grabbed the vacuum up and vacuumed him up, he got him and when we went to empty the vacuum we saw his little legs moving...he DIDNT DIE!
WHAT?!

So, of course, after this whole mess we cleaned the house, at 11pm...hahaha with still the majority of the movie left...

And now I can't stop singing La Cucaracha!

I hope you all had a super weekend, and that your weekend was free of yucky bugs!

*Disclaimer*: We are not dirty, we keep our house very clean, and we don't keep any food out...however, we cannot say the same thing for others in our apartment complex. We think that he found his way into our apartment from someone elses apartment! :-)

A Day in the Life: Education Services Day 7

I worked at a summit (a free workshop) last weekend and came in contact with some interesting experiences...

Do you know what ComCon is?

Ok, so imagine what DomCon is....
Yes, you guessed it...
A Dominatrix Expo...

Yes, at the same hotel we had our summit...
Yes, on the same day...
Yes, at the same time...

I almost died!

Imagine going to a professional work event and having people walking around you in Leather, with fishnets and platform boots carrying whips...and asking you where their seminar was...

wow...

Giraffe Test

There are 4 questions.
Don't miss one.

1. How do you put a giraffe into a refrigerator?

Stop and think about it and decide on your answer before you look

Correct answer is: Open the refrigerator, put the giraffe in it, and close the door.
This question tests whether you tend to do simple things in an overly complicated way.

2. How do you put an elephant into a refrigerator?

Did you say, Open the refrigerator, put in the elephant, and close the refrigerator?

Wrong Answer.

Correct Answer: Open the refrigerator, take out the giraffe, put in the elephant and close the door.
This tests your ability to think through the repercussions of your previous actions..

3. The Lion King is hosting an animal conference. All the animals attend .... Except one. Which animal does not attend?

Correct Answer: The Elephant. The elephant is in the refrigerator. You just put him in there.
This tests your memory. Okay, even if you did not answer the first three questions correctly, you still have one more chance to show your true abilities.

4. There is a river you must cross but it is used by crocodiles, and you do not have a boat. How do you manage it?

Correct Answer:? You jump into the river and swim across. Have you not been listening? All the crocodiles are attending the Animal Meeting.
This tests whether you learn quickly from your mistakes.

According to Anderson Consulting Worldwide, around 90% of the Professionals they tested got all  questions wrong, but many preschoolers got several correct answers. Anderson Consulting says this
conclusively proves the theory that most professionals do not have the brains of a four-year-old.

Quite the fun brain teaser on this lovely Wednesday Hump Day!

Thankful Thursday

Today, I link with with the lovely Tracy from Then I Got to Thinking to discuss what I am thankful for.

I just finished reading Half the Sky and wow was it powerful!
I absolutely recommend this book to anyone and everyone! Old, young, man or woman, blue or green!
It is so moving and will make you want to get your butt in to gear about changing the world!

Since I started reading this book, I have had this incredible urge to make a difference, big or small.

"A man goes out on the beach and sees that it is covered with starfish that have washed up in the tide. A little boy is walking along, picking them up and throwing them back into the water. "What are you doing, son?  The man asks. " you see how many starfish there are? You'll never make a difference." The boy paused thoughtfully, and picked up another starfish and threw it into the ocean.
"It sure made a difference to that one," he said."
Hawaiian parable

Half the Sky Nicholas D Kristof & Sheryl WuDunn

Now, if that passage does not make you want to go out and make a difference in the world, I don't know what will!

I am thankful for the opportunities that I have had throughout my life, due to my parents, my family, my friends and my husband.

These opportunities are countless and priceless and I am a better person for each and every one.

Thank you.

And of course, I am most thankful for my Husband, Love, Partner in Life
