I went to Italia in the summer of 2008. I studied Art, Music and Culture in Firenze for a month. Before my scholastic journey began, I spent about 8/9 days with my Zia and Zio (Aunt and Uncle) in Vicenza. Zio was stationed at the Army base there for about 3 years and I was fortunate enough to get a little introductory taste of Italia with them!
I have decided that I will take you along my journey based on the places I went :-)
Vicenza:
Zia and I went to Monte Berico. A beautiful cathedral that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and it was built to protect Vicenza from the Plague that happened in the 1400s(I think thats the right date ;-))

There is a great open air market in downtown Vicenza. Zia and I drove, at first, and when we got there and couldn't find parking, we drove back to her house and we took the bus. I had my first Italiano public transportation experience it was very EXCITING!
We walked around the downtown area and went into 2 more churches. They are absolutely AMAZING here!
When I would go into the churches I could just feel the history and the culture. It all felt so right!
Did you know that if you get shat on by a bird, it is actually good luck? I walked out of the Basilica di Vicenza and I got shat on! Oh well, I had an awesome time so it must be good luck!

The hardest thing I had to get used to was the heat. It was hot and humid and it was almost unbearable. Fortunately we started our days early and be back in the house after lunch and relax.
Until next time, Buon Giorno

Oh wow, looks like sooo much fun! I traveled to over to Europe in 2003 and stayed overnight in Venice. My sister has decided to study abroad in Italy this summer (she's minoring in Italian) and my dad told her that she can't get abducted because he's too old and would never be able to go over and hunt her down like Liam Neison did in the movie "Taken" Hahah :-) Made me laugh (sorry if you've never seen the movie and that makes no sense ;-)) Thanks for sharing the pictures!!
Love this! I've been to Florence, Rome, Venice and Milan. I couldn’t believe how different each city was. Italy is amazing.
