Honeymoon: Day 12

We woke up early to take the TGV from Lausanne, Switzerland to Paris, France.

Rich has not taken the bullet train before, so it was exciting for him! It took us about 3.5 hours to get to Paris.

Again, we had a lot of trouble finding our hotel. Rich speaks French and was trying to get directions and no one could help us! It was so frustrating!

We finally walked by some friendly tourists who could tell we were lost and she let us look at her map.  We found our hotel and we were disappointed to find that we were staying in kind of a dumpy place...oh well!

We dropped our stuff off and headed down to all of the attractions.

We walked in the gardens of the Louvre and then near the Army Museum. We were both hot, thirsty and hungry and, I will admit, a bit cranky so we stopped in at the first place we saw and had dinner. We both enjoyed big salads with lots of veggies! (We have since recreated the nicoise salad that Rich had at this restaurant and it was delicious!)

Sadly, my camera battery died, so we had to go back to the hotel and get Rich's camera and we went back out and decided to go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower.  We got there right before the lights were turned on, it was beautiful!

We finally got to go up to the top around 10:30/11pm. Lets just say it was a late night, we were both exhausted and needing some personal space, which you won't get if you go to the Eiffel Tower.  We got down from the top after midnight, after all of the trains that would take us back to our hotel has stopped running. So we started walking...it was a nightmare. I had been on m feet all day so my knee was torturing me....fortunately, after stopping several taxi cabs with no avail, a man stopped and was willing to take us to our hotel!

We just fell right in to bed and slept through the morning, waking up at 10:30am! Definitely a change from the entire trip!

Honeymoon: Day 11

We woke up and had the hotel breakfast and got on our way back to the train station to go back to Lausanne.

This was our last day in Switzerland and we wanted to do as much as possible!

We got on the train and rode it for about 3 hours to get back to Lausanne. We found our hotel marveled in how beautiful our room was and headed over to the Olympic Museum.

The museum was so interesting. It had all of the past torches from past Olympic Games and told the story of where it traveled, who carried it and how long it took to get to the stadium!  It was really neat!

There were a few exhibits in side of the museum...it was really neat!

The world record high jump!  Rich is about 5'10/5'11!!

We walked down to the lake and we played a life size game of chess. Rich always beat me.... :-( That is alright!

We enjoyed a glass of beer and then went to the coop with the last francs that we had and we got a bottle of wine and went back to our hotel room and sat on the balcony and ate our dinner, the usual: cheese, salami and bread!

I got a Swiss Army knife engraved that says Adelboden - Kandersteg

All of our shoes...

Our room had air conditioning, so we lived that up, shower and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

We laugh about it now because in this amazing and comfortable room, we slept terribly! We had the air on too cold, so we were very cold throughout the night!  Oh well, the room was beautiful anyway!

Honeymoon: Day 10

We had some snacks for breakfast and headed to the train station.

We took the train to Zermatt and from there we took a lift up to see the Matterhorn.

Zermatt is another small town where cars are not allowed. It was really neat to see horse drawn carriages from all of the big hotels. So cool!

Disneyland really did a great job replicating the Matterhorn :-)

It was amazing. It is so massive and beautiful!

St Bernard...I snuck a picture....

we were very high up!

We went to a different mountain peak and were able to go through an ice museum.

We were walking along and saw an ice slide, so of course we went down it!

We laughed the entire way down...it wasn't long...

We had lunch on a deck with view of the Matterhorn. it was truly breath taking.

me trying to be artsy...

We went back down to the town of Zermatt and we sat outside of a coffee shop and enjoyed ice macchiatos while we waited for our train to take us back down to Brig.  We went to the coop in Zermatt and got some food for dinner and ate once we got back to the hotel.

Definitely see the Matterhorn!
