So growing up my first pet was a dog, her name was Spetta (aspettare means "to wait" in Italian. And my Grampie named her that because my Grammie made him "wait" to get a dog! Fun side story). She was a weimaraner and a beautiful dog!
Other than Spetta, we have always had cats. My Step-Dad started with Teak, his back cat. Then he and my mom got Yoda (she had ear mites as a kitten and so we had to put these drops in her ears which made her look like the Yoda). Then we bread Yoda and she had 4 kittens: YoShe, YoHe, YoGi & YoBubba. We didn't want to name the kittens and get attached because we were planning to sell them. When we only sold two, we kept YoShe (the runt) who we later named Redhead because she is red (ha! yes I was a creative child!) and we kep YoBubba (the biggest cat) who we later named Bubba and he turned into my cat.
We moved to our current location and when we moved Bubba disappeared and we found his remains behind our house...we think he got eaten by a coyote :-( It definitely made the entire move harder on me. Then a few years ago, Teak passed and last year, the day before my birthday Yoda passed which leaves us with Redhead.
After Yoda passed, we ended up getting another cat, and Redhead hates him! (that is actually an understatement!) We house him in my brothers' room because the two cats cannot be in the same room together and Redhead will sit outside their door and just wait....sometimes she sneaks in and then we wake up in the middle of the night to cat fights...literally! ha!
After all of this...I am not really a pet person...Sweeter really wants one and I keep telling him no! ha! He wants a dog, more specifically he wants an Alaskan Husky. They are absolutely beautiful animals I just don't want to have to take care of one...I know that's selfish.... ha! I know and I don't mind :-)
I, unfortunately, do not have any of our pets pictures on my computer :-( Bummer!

Having a dog is definitely like having a kid! Oh but they can be so much fun!
Wow an Alaskan husky would definitely be a lot to take care of! If they aren't howling up a storm in your backyard, they are shedding constantly. Very beautiful and sweet animals but a lot to take care of so I don't blame you!
I had a husky with my ex...she was the most amazing dog but also very, very difficult. If she could get away from you she would take off and be gone for hours and hours, then come back so disgusting...and of course she shed like mad and was essentially untrainable (it's a husky trait that was actually bred into them and has become part of their nature--when they were dragging sleds it was good for them to have independence in case they sensed danger their human wouldn't/couldn't). I would only suggest a husky if you are the type of person who is willing to walk/run with the dog on a daily basis, you have a fenced in yard, and you are stubborn enough to not just want to get rid of the dog every time it pisses you off, which will happen a LOT ;)
That said, my family has always had tons of pets! My husband and I are huge animal/pet people but my middle sister, despite growing up with so many pets, is not.
