Happy Day!

I have heard this song on Pandora a few times and every time I hear it, it makes me love my husband more :-)

I love the chorus.
It is perfect
And so true!

weird video...ha!

I am no Superman
I have no reasons for you
I am no hero
Oh, that's for sure
But I do know one thing
Is where you are is where I belong
I do know where you go
Is where I want to be

Where are you going?
Where do you go?
Tell me, where are you going?
Where?
Well, let's go

I hope you all are enjoying your Thursday!

Forks Over Knives

This past weekend I watched a movie on Netflix called Forks Over Knives

And wow.
What a powerful video.

It basically says that we should eat a plant based & whole grain diet to aid in a healthier, longer living life.

I thought that this movie was great because it didn't really play the fear card.
Yes, of course, it talked about the health benefits to eating a low animal-protein diet. It discusses the health benefits without making me feel badly about eating meat/dairy. It is about real, life fact and less about shock value. So if you watched this video you won't be seeing all slaughter houses, or looking in the sad eyes of a young chicken or whatever all the other food movies do.

The movie and the doctors in it are advocating for complete plant and whole food diets.  Throughout the movie, they follow a few different "clients" (people who moved to the plant based diet) as well as some mouse testing :-/  The tests done comparing diets with high animal-protein diets vs low animal-protein (not no animal-protein). I guess you could say that the movie was an introduction to a vegan diet...Maybe I can convince my carnivore of a husband...we will see... :-) The results were amazing...watch the movie!  I don't want to spoil anything ;-)

If you have Netflix streaming, watch this movie!

I am totally on board to eat more vegetables. Especially with summer, this is when everything is in season and when everything is delicious! After I watched this movie, Rich and I decided that we aren't going to cut animal-proteins out of our diets completely, but we are going to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables.

On Sunday we headed down to the Santa Monica Farmers Market. It was amazing and we got some great deals!
Fresh Food (Check!)
Cheap (Check!)
Supporting our local farmers (Check Plus!)

How many of you eat meat?
Are you a vegan?
Do you eat lots of fresh food?
Do you make home made meals?
What are your eating/food habits?

Happy Tuesday!

Unconditional Love

I have been thinking all week about my life and how I want to be for the rest of it.

Present.
Loving.
Accepting.
Forgiving.
Happy.
Unforgettable.

All of these things come to mind when I think about how I want the rest of my life to be.
image
But how does one achieve this?

That is the hard part.

It is so hard to ignore human nature.
To ignore what has been drilled in us as children by friends, life, media

How do we let go of that?
The unforgiveness
The judgement
The past hurts
The distractions

Don't deny it
We all hang on to it
...to some extent...

I truly, with my whole heart, believe that how we chose to live is about your mentality. If you want to be happy, you will be happy. It's all about how you want to live your life. You decide if you want to let something external bother you internally. It is no one else's fault but your own.

So how do we get out of this negative mind set?

We start by appreciating the small things that bring smiles to our faces and joy to our hearts. We chose to take control of our emotions and see the beauty in all situations.

This, right here, is my pledge to be happy.
To let got of all of that.
And to be happy!
Think positively.

And always remember that Smiling is Good for your Teeth!

Trip to Las Vegas

Rich and I made the quick and easy drive to Las Vegas on Saturday morning.
We figured we would leave Saturday to avoid any Friday night traffic (especially because it was Cinco de Mayo weekend)

We got there, relaxed a bit in the warm sunshine and then were given a tour of the Bellagio and part of the strip (Rich hadn't been to Las Vegas before)

The Bellagio

My beautiful sis!

An amazing chocolate fountain we all wish we could have put our mouths under!

My Sweet Husband!
After our visit to the strip, we headed back to the house and had some cheese and wine and relaxed.
We got ourselves ready and then headed back to the Palms to eat dinner at 9
9 is a fancy steak house. It was delicious and very decedent!

When we were leaving the Palms, Randy (my sisters Mom's husband) was stopped by this large man. They were chatting (Randy is a poker player, so he knows everyone it seems!) Randy introduced him to Joy and then this other guy came over and started chatting with Joy and randy.

He said "Hi" to Rich, Tab and I and we said "Hi" back and continued to talk to each other.
As we left the Palms, Randy and Tabitha told us that that was Nelly who said "Hi" to us!
So pretty much we met Nelly and he wants to be our best friend!
(No exaggeration there...haha!)

After dinner at the Palms, we headed over to The Orleans Hotel/Casino to see Bill Maher.
He is hilarious and we all had so much fun at his show!

Check out his website.

After the show we headed back to the house and went to bed, Rich and I were exhausted after waking up at 5am 2 days in a row!

Sunday, we woke up and sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather!
It was beautiful in Las Vegas this weekend!
We ate breakfast and then got ready to go out for another scenic adventure - this time, away from the strip and in to nature!

We stopped at a cute, hip spot for lunch and then drove out to Red Rock Canyon.
The contrasts of the Red Rock and the blue sky was an amazing and beautiful site!

Rich ran up the side of one of the rocks to get some artsy pictures!

The scenery is so different from CA!

The whole clan!

Overall we had a fantastic weekend and we were treated like royalty by our wonderful family!
We both can't wait to go back and visit!

Me: Thank you, sir, I really appreciate that
Customer: Well its true, I know it.

What a nice man! I though that was so kind!

What a way to lift my spirits!

Exciting News!!

I am going to be an Auntie! I am so excited! I can't believe it!

When my sister told me she was expecting, I literally burst into tears of joy!

I never would have thought I would be so excited and be so in love with a baby that I haven't even met!

I melted!

I am ecstatic and the best part is that  Rich and I are going to see her this weekend and celebrate this beautiful and exciting adventure she and her husband have begun!

Hello Baby Fever!

In preparation of our visit this weekend, I decided to pick up a couple of little outfits for my little nephew! I was at Costco and found some awesome deals!

How adorable are these little outfits!

I was very sad that all of the ones day referred to "I love my auntie" or "My auntie loves me a lot" we're for little girls...!

It is my mission to find something for the little guy!

Ok, in all honesty, Rich and I are no where close to ready to have children; however, I have to admit, sifting through all of the adorable baby clothes at Costco yesterday made me want one....shhh!

And when I got home and heard all of the kids outside screaming, my desire flew right out the window... ;-P

I wish you all a happy hump day Wednesday!
