Monday

At our makeshift mass on Sunday with the Edge, our priest told us a quote that I want to start living by:
There is so much good in the worst of us and so much bad in the best of us, that it behooves any of us to talk about the rest of us

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

I love love sea salt and vinegar chips {my mouth is actually watering just typing it} and I decided to get the baked kind today and they aren't as good...FYI

I bought my wedding shoes in June and I have decided that I don't love them, so I am returning them today...I found a SUPER cute pair...I may have to get them...I hope Nordstrom has them!

I got to talk to my Sweeter yesterday for almost an hour and a half...um, YES PLEASE!

I got all of my To-Do list done! Woohoo!! I finally mailed back all of my MK stuff...now I just have to wait for the check to come in the mail....{insert: sigh of relief}

I love this pictre

I just stumbled upon this blog and must link up!

(1) What's for dinner tonight? Dinner is with a few of my sisters {the AGD kind} in the Mission at Regalito Rosticeria
(2) Have you ever been stung by a bee or a wasp? Yes, both! When I was young, I had collected bird feathers on the beach {gross..I know} and I guess I brought one home with me! It landed on me and I was getting dressed and the elastic in my shorts {yes...my mom dressed me in spandex shorts and oversize exercised shirts....my mom was/is an 80s queen!} snapped on my side squishing the wasp causing him to sting me :-( And {also when I was little} I tried to catch bees...and I caught one and it stung me on the hand :-(

(3) What time do you go to sleep every evening? Usually around 11...I do my best to go to sleep in the same day that I woke up in :-)

(4) What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Mint...only the green kind will suffice!

(5) If you could have one power, what would it be? I would love to be able to tell the future! I am a planner, so if I already knew what was going to happen--how great would that be. I think that I would like to have the choice of seeing the future...because some things I would like to keep a surprise!

30 Day Challenge: Day 29

The first thing that came to my mind was this song:

My 3 Wishes
1) To live a healthy life
2) To have a healthy and loving family
3) To travel the world

30 Day Challenge: Day 28

Day 28-Something that stresses you out

I do my best not to get stressed out!  {See last Sunday's Can-Do Challenge ;-)}

The biggest thing that stresses me out is the phrase: "I don't know"

*When people expect that I can read their minds {for the record...i cannot}
*Money {if it doesn't stress you out...please pass on your secrets!}
*People who have problems that they aren't willing to do anything about...yet they always complain
*The future {in a good way...there can be good stress!}
*When people around me fight

Can-Do Challenge- So Much to Appreciate!

As I mentioned last week, the next few Can-Do Challenges will be coming from a book that I bought as a result of a college class that I ended up dropping and I was unable to part with this book!

I hope that these are as helpful and beneficial for all of you, as they were for me!

Stress Free For Good, written by Dr Fred Luskin & Dr. Kenneth R Pelletier, is a book that has seriously changed my life and how I manage myself :-) I hope that you all have the opportunity to read this book, and if not, please read my posts because they really do help :-)

The second life skill written about in this book is: So Much to Appreciate

"When you have thoughts of good things, when your mind pictures loving scenes, your body has no need for tension and high blood pressure.  In fact, loving thoughts and the emotions of gratitude are as good for the bosy as a relaxing massage on the beach in Hawaii" (p.82).

Purpose:
~Help acknowledge the good in your life
~To improve your relationships

Practice:
~When taking your deep belly breaths (from last week) think deeply on someone your love, a beautiful place or an act of kindness done for you

Tips:
~Appreciating positive things is enhanced when combined with belly breathing

Application:
~When stress and difficulties pile up
~When making a difficult decision
~When you feel unappreciated, lonely or issolated
~When you are talking with someone, remember how much that person means to you

Life Skill:
"Appreciating other people, the beauty of nature, and joys of everyday life may be the simplest and more immediate way to create both health and happiness" (89).

Again, all of this information comes straight from the book...I have paraphrased and generally it is not verbatim-I only chose a few items that have really helped me, that I hope will help you :-)

30 Day Challenge: Day 27

So growing up my first pet was a dog, her name was Spetta (aspettare means "to wait" in Italian. And my Grampie named her that because my Grammie made him "wait" to get a dog! Fun side story).  She was a weimaraner and a beautiful dog!

Other than Spetta, we have always had cats. My Step-Dad started with Teak, his back cat. Then he and my mom got Yoda (she had ear mites as a kitten and so we had to put these drops in her ears which made her look like the Yoda). Then we bread Yoda and she had 4 kittens: YoShe, YoHe, YoGi & YoBubba. We didn't want to name the kittens and get attached because we were planning to sell them. When we only sold two, we kept YoShe (the runt) who we later named Redhead because she is red (ha! yes I was a creative child!) and we kep YoBubba (the biggest cat) who we later named Bubba and he turned into my cat.

We moved to our current location and when we moved Bubba disappeared and we found his remains behind our house...we think he got eaten by a coyote :-( It definitely made the entire move harder on me. Then a few years ago, Teak passed and last year, the day before my birthday Yoda passed which leaves us with Redhead.

After Yoda passed, we ended up getting another cat, and Redhead hates him! (that is actually an understatement!) We house him in my brothers' room because the two cats cannot be in the same room together and Redhead will sit outside their door and just wait....sometimes she sneaks in and then we wake up in the middle of the night to cat fights...literally! ha!

After all of this...I am not really a pet person...Sweeter really wants one and I keep telling him no! ha! He wants a dog, more specifically he wants an Alaskan Husky. They are absolutely beautiful animals I just don't want to have to take care of one...I know that's selfish.... ha! I know and I don't mind :-)

I, unfortunately, do not have any of our pets pictures on my computer :-( Bummer!

TGIFRIDAY

I think that this quote is only appropriate!

Fun Fridays

I am so glad for this weekend to be here! I feel like it has been the longest week, ever! I am really looking forward It won't be much of a relaxing weekend

Step 1:

Pick one of these prompts and write about it on your blog!  You can:
  • Just make a list. List 5 things that made you really happy this week. No matter how bad or boring you think your week was, I bet you can find 5 things.
1) Talking to my best friends-I got to talk to all of them this week!
2) The Giants won the World Series and I went to the celebratory parade!
3) I got to talk to my Sweeter twice this week!
4) I had a fun sleepover with my Best Friendoodle!
5) The weather has been awesome!
  • Write about something that happened to you this week that really made you smile.  Was it your child, husband, or maybe a complete stranger did to you?
 I have great friends who are so supportive of me! They all are so sweet and always there for me! I couldn't have asked for a better group of girls in my life! You know who you are, and I love you!
  • Write about something that YOU did for someone else that really made them happy or laugh.
 ha! I can't think of a thing...wow...I am a terrible person...haha! Maybe the fact that I am volunteering with The Edge, our Church's middle school CCD program. I do this every Tuesday night and this weekend I am helping out at their weekend retreat and I am going to give a witness talk on Peer Pressure...any suggestions on what to say?!
  • Is there something you treasure so much that every single time you look at it, it brings you happiness?  Post a pic and tell everyone about it.
I can't take a picture of it, because it is is picture :-)  For Valentine's Day 2009, My Sweeter was in Iraq and wanted to do something special for me. He drew me a picture, a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge and wrote a poem on the back of it. It was one of the best gifts I have ever received! It is a view from where we had our first kiss and later from where he proposed to me. So sweet! I have it in a preyty frame on my desk at work!
  • Having a hard week and can’t find one good thing about it?  Well then, what is your happy place?  What do you think of that makes you happy? A past vacation?  A childhood memory?  We want to know!
 No, me week hasn't been too hard...just long! I am glad it's the weekend! :-)

TGIFRIIIDAY!!! Have a beautiful weekend! And, remember to SMILE, it's good for your teeth!
