Rich and I had a small cake to cut in to for our wedding cake and then the guests got sheet cakes from the most delicious bakery in the Bay, Katrina Rozelle. If you are ever in the Bay, make sure to stop by and get something from them! Yum!
Anyway, back to our small cake...
We brought the rest of it home with us, and we ate it the week week the wedding.
We decided not to save any of it, because, lets be real, who wants to eat a year old cake?!
Not us!
We decided that we would buy a replica cake and eat on our anniversary.
Sadly, the bakery doesn't mail cakes, and neither of us were about to drive up just for cake...
So it worked out perfectly, because I was heading up north the following weekend for my brother's promotion!
I ordered a replica of our cake, the coconut cake (view menu here).
And OMG it was AMAZING!
We thought about going with a different cake, one we served to our guests, and we were both very glad we didn't, because holy cow, it was totally worth eating again!
Now that I am drooling, I am back to work!
Happy Thursday!

Sounds yummy! We saved ours and brought it out on our one year anniversary and blah! You made a good call. Happy Anniversary!
Agreed- the one year cake was so yuckie. So not worth all the aluminum foil and plastic wrap it took to wrap it! We didn't choose to do an anniversary cake because we didn't like our bakery (they were part of the reception pkg). I should have just ordered one from a local bakery, but since there was a HUGE layer of cake left, I felt bad wasting it. So I saved it for a year, wasted precious freezer space, and then wasted it. Almost all of it went in the trash b/c it was so gross and full of wood support. Gross AND dangerous. You made a GREAT call!
I agree, smart idea on the cake. We ate ours only 6 months later to celebrate the date of our civil ceremony and even just 6 months was awful. I can't imagine having waited the full year.
I love that you guys got the same cake!!
